What is your name and job title?
My name is Samson Safo and I am a second-year Computer Science student at London South Bank University.
How did you meet Kevin?
During my first semester in second year, I decided to look for internship opportunities to gain practical experience related to my field of study. As a result, I started attending the career hub sessions organized by the university. One day during the session, Mr. Kevin Amouzou, who happens to be an alumni of the university, came in to talk about his experience as a student. He spoke about things he wished he did as a student; notably, regretting not taking an internship during his student days, how students should make their profile stand out to advertise themselves in the corporate world, and expanding your network before graduation. I was intrigued by his presentation and decided to speak to him after the session. That is how I got to know him and I connected with him on LinkedIn.
How was the sessions/advice that you received from Kevin?
I have received a lot of support and advice from him, specifically amongst this was his suggestions on how to improve my LinkedIn profile and modifying my CV to meet the standard expected by recruiters. I sent my CV on 2 occasions for him to review before I applied for a job, which he did, quite a bit earlier than I expected considering his busy schedule.
What was the end result from having the sessions/advice with Kevin
In the end, the CV got me into the next stages of the recruitment process, and I have finally ended up as a software engineer intern at Publicis Sapient, due to start in the summer. Additionally, my LinkedIn has seen impressive response from recruiters, 2 of these I have included below:
I want to say a big thank you to Kevin for his support, and I know he has more in store for me when necessary.
